Don’s heart for Family Ministries is a natural outgrowth of his heart for men who don’t feel they
“fit” in church. Why? Because he felt that way himself for many years, until he discovered that
“religion builds fear, but relationship builds faith and hope.” Faith and hope changes hearts, and
men with changed hearts can effectively be “pastors of their home,” their God-ordained position
in the family.
Don recognizes the family as God’s creation and design for human living. Family Ministries is
like a big umbrella over “everything family,” including Children’s Ministries, Marriage Ministry,
and Adult Education. In reality, family isn’t just about individual family units, but the entire
church. Don has at least as many ideas for enhancing and extending family relationships as he
has flame-motif clothing and funny T-shirts.
Don and his wife Cindy ("his bride”) married in 1973 and have three married daughters and nine
grandchildren. You often see Don and Cindy working together to support each other. Both their
hearts’ desire is for a person’s spiritual journey to draw and lead their physical journey. They
desire to see the passion for Christ outweigh self-centeredness.
Don’s background includes 35 years in business, the last 14 as a local business owner. For eight
years, Don represented Sears on the Business Advisory Board of Spokane Community College.
Over the years, Cindy and Don taught Sunday school and worked on various projects for local
Christian organizations, such as AWANA and Valley Christian School. Don entered full-time
ministry in 2004.
